Abstract

Infiltrating lipoma is a rare, benign soft tissue tumor. Its name originates in its infiltrating growth nature which penetrates the skeletal muscle. Nevus lipomatosus cutaneous superficialis is a very rare skin anomaly characterized by ectopic adipose tissue in the dermis. We experienced a 45-years-old male patient who presented with well-defined, 10x4cm sized scapular mass and 5x4cm sized subscapular mass combined with a brown colored papule on the back. These lesions are well treated by surgical excision. Histopathological findings showed ectopic mature adipose cells in the dermis in nevus lipomatosus cutaneous superficialis and among muscle fibers in infiltrating lipoma. There is no previous report in wihch solitary nevus lipomatosus cutaneous superficialis is combined with lipomas in seperated area. Two diseases have a common that both have infiltrating nature and from this fact we could deduce that nevus lipomatosus cutaneous superficialis is originated from as infiltration to dermis of infiltrating lipoma or vice versa.
